What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “God’s wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness, disease or disorder of the body or mind and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
What to Expect During a Reiki Healing Session:
You will be asked to lay down on a massage table or sit in a chair. You will be fully clothed except for your shoes. You may also be asked to remove or loosen your belt so that your breathing is not restricted in any way. It is best to choose loose-fitting garments to wear on the day of your appointment. Wearing natural fabric is best (cotton, wool, or linen) but not required. You may also be asked to remove glasses, hats and hair clips.
I do my best to create a relaxing atmosphere for my clients’ Reiki sessions, setting the mood with the use of dimmed lights and meditative music Although some clients prefer to be in a place that is completely silent, without distraction of music of any kind, this is okay as well, just let me know which you prefer..
During the Reiki healing session I will place my hands lightly on different appropriate parts of your body. Sometimes I will follow a predetermined sequence of hand placements, allowing my hands to rest on each body placement for 2 to 5 minutes before moving on to the next position. Other times I will freely move my hands in no particular order to areas where they “feel” Reiki is most needed. I will also sometimes hover my hands above your body a few inches. Regardless of the method, Reiki energy always flows where there may be imbalances.
How it feels:
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being. Many have reported miraculous results.

When the flow of the “life force energy” is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or health problems tend to occur. Imbalances can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives like physical trauma, injury, emotions such as fear, doubt, or worry, or emotions that are not expressed in a healthy way like negative self-talk or can aide in correcting destructive lifestyle

Long term practice of whole-body Reiki will restore the general condition of the body. It will open the energy channels and this will allow the body to deal properly and naturally with stress and built up toxins and cope with anxiety and depression.
When a person is in good health, regular therapy will increase the body’’ built-in defenses. This will manifest itself as confidence and outward harmony in dealing with everyday events. The person will gain a positive outlook on life.
